Terms of Service

TLDR Summarizer AI

Effective 22 October 2026.

These terms apply to the TLDR Summarizer AI Chrome extension. The extension is free. We may update these terms; changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

The service

The extension summarizes the visible text of an http or https page, or a PDF you choose, into five bullets, a short paragraph, and up to five links.

The extension sends that text to our Cloudflare Worker, which calls OpenAI, unless you saved your own OpenAI key. If you saved a key, the extension calls OpenAI directly and does not send the text or the key to us.

An optional link in the side panel opens a third-party donation page. That page is not our checkout. We never see your card.

The shared service allows 20 summaries an hour for an install, 60 an hour for an IP address, and 1,000 an hour for everyone together. We can change those limits or stop the shared service.

Who may use it

You need to be able to agree to these terms. The extension is not for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use it only with a parent or guardian.

Follow OpenAI's rules when you send content for a summary. Do not use the extension or a summary to break the law.

Agreement

Using the extension means you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

Your content

You keep whatever rights you already have in the text you submit. You allow us, and the companies that process the request, to send that text, shorten it to 15,000 characters, and process it only to produce the summary, apply the hourly limits, and protect the service, for the times in the Privacy Policy.

We do not publish your page text, train a model on it, or show it to other people.

You promise that you have the right to send that text for this purpose.

The summary is for you. We do not promise that you own it, that nobody else's rights apply to it, or that you may use it for a particular purpose. OpenAI's terms also apply to the model output.

Acceptable use

You may not:

Do not probe or load-test the shared service.

If a request hits a limit, you can wait until the hour resets or use your own key.

AI output

This content is generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Read it carefully before you rely on it.

Summaries are general information. You are responsible for your own decisions. A summary is not investment, financial, tax, legal, medical, or real-estate advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything. We are not your adviser, lawyer, accountant, doctor, or broker.

A tool link is a suggestion. We do not control that site, and a link is not an endorsement. Check the address before you open it.

We do not promise that the extension will be available all the time.

No warranty

To the extent the law allows, the extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

If you are a consumer, you keep any right your local law does not allow us to take away.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, from the extension or a summary.

Our total liability for a claim is limited to what you paid us for the extension in the 12 months before the claim. The extension is free, so that amount is zero. If a law sets a different limit, that law applies.

This section does not limit liability the law does not allow us to limit.

Claims by other people

To the extent the law allows, you will cover a claim by someone else that comes from the text you submitted, from a misuse of a summary, or from your breaking these terms. If you are a consumer, consumer law may limit this promise.

We do not publish the pages or PDFs you summarize. If you believe a summary infringes a copyright, stop sending that material and uninstall the extension.

Other services

OpenAI provides the model. Cloudflare hosts the summary service and this website. Their terms apply when you use them. If you use your own OpenAI key, your account with OpenAI is yours. We do not see the key or the bill.

Stopping

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the extension. That removes the install id and any saved key from your device. A rate-limit counter expires on its own within about two hours.

We may suspend or stop the shared service. There is nothing to refund, because the service is free.

Changes

We may update these terms. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If you do not agree, uninstall the extension.

Language

These terms are in English. A consumer in Quebec keeps the language rights the law gives them.

Disputes

These terms follow the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

We ask that disputes be heard in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. A consumer may still use any court or process that their local consumer law keeps open. These terms do not require arbitration, and they do not waive class actions.

The rest of the agreement

If a court holds one part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect to the extent the law allows. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about the extension and the shared summary service. They do not replace OpenAI's terms or the Chrome Web Store terms.
